The fashion month of men’s fashion is over and the most interesting and coolest brands have presented their newest collections in the world’s fashion capitals. Here are five brands that you need to bear in mind and that caught The Flow House’s eye.
ISSEY MIYAKE
Issey Miyake’s show at the Université Pierre et Marie Curie in Paris bedazzled everyone. From afar, one already wanted to touch and wear the materials and cuts the models were dressed in. The modest color choice really hit the nerve, especially the brown tones. The chief designer of the Japanese brand, Yusuke Takahashi, who got the men’s line of Issey Miyake going again, has brought the label to the same level as Yohji Yamamoto and Sean Suen. Issey Miyake’s new fashion is not only trendy but simultaneously classy and comfortable at the same time – now it just needs to be worn.
ICOSAE
The surprise effect most definitely worked: Icosae’s second presentation in Paris was fantastic. The location right by the Seine, the music and of course the fashion itself – each detail was excellent. The brothers Valentin and Florentin Glemare created a mix of sporty yet elegant elements that look urban. Each of Icosae’s pieces is a must-have. The SS18 collection’s motto is “The world has music for those who listen” and that is quite a clear statement that the brand is making. The new collection consists of “romantic-punk” elements and is definitely remembered by the show’s audience. Without a doubt one of the best newcomer brands on the Parisian fashion market, or can you actually resist this fashion?
RYNSHU
When it comes to the location for a show in Paris, Rynshu definitely gets a 10/10. The Japanese fashion label rented the suite “Belle Etoile” on the top floor of the noble hotel Le Meurice and guaranteed one of the top views overlooking the city of Paris. Not only the setting was breathtaking but also the fashion itself deserves more than just to be seen. As his Japanese friends at Issey Miyake, Rynshu prefers a limited color palette and mostly sticks to black. The colors are supplemented with oriental patterns or Japanese letters. Rynshu proves his diversity in that he presents his graphic expertise but still preserves a “romantisme pur” and highlights the label’s classy shirts and foulards. Rynshu recently opened his new store in Paris (270, rue Saint-Honoré) – a visit that is most definitely worth it.
CHRISTIAN PELLIZZARI
One of the most talented newcomers in the Italian fashion scene is without a doubt, Christian Pellizzari. The Italian founded his same name label a few years ago and has attained great success. His SS18 collection is dedicated to his hometown Venice – and the result most definitely mirrors the city of love. “Dreaming Venice” allows one to dream of Venice with every single piece from the collection. The design of the Piazza San Marco was used as a pattern for jackets and pants and the Lion of Venice is to be found as a symbol on shirts and pullovers. It was important for Pellizzari to go back to his roots, to Venice. This guy has not only conquered Venetian and Italian fashion but is also on his way to find international recognition, which he most definitely deserves.
GCDS
Chiara Ferragni, Fedez, Luca Vezil, Giotto Calendoli, Ivano Marino – the list of Italian influencers at the debut show of GCDS (“God Can’t Destroy Streetwear”) in Milan was almost endless. Just as Marcelo Burlon owns County of Milan and Palm Angels, GCDS is one of the hot newcomers that are mixing up the fashion scene in Milan and giving it the extra pep. The new GCDS collection offers street-wear fashion that makes hearts leap for joy. Thus one can find basics of the street-wear fashion with ironic slogans such as “Sea Riously” (The inspiration of the sea was definitely the fil rouge of the show). Designer Giuliano Calza focuses mostly on pink (pink is the new punk!), apple green and blue. Another plus point: GCDS is within the middle range when it comes to price category. With its first show and new collection, GCDS connects luxury with simplicity, dreams with reality – a rising star in the fashion sky. Karim
